When you make a trip to the store purchase more than one of the same item. If you need toilet paper buy two packs, this saves you gas and money! You will be prepared next time you run out!
Make a List
Before you head out the door, make a list of everything that you need. By doing this you will ensure that nothing is forgotten, and this too will save you gas because you will not have to make a second list!
- Buy the off Brand
The store brand products are usually just as good as the name brand product and they are usually a lot cheaper! Pick and choose what you can substitute!
See when your neighbor is going to be heading to the store (you can also use this option to go other places as well!) catch a ride with them and offer to be the driver next time around!
Use your coupons! They actually do save you quite a bit of money if you add up all of the savings! There are great websites that offer free printable coupons as well!
Shopping online saves you gas, time, and there are also sites that are less expensive than the actual stores! For example if you are a big movie fan Netflix is a great way to save a lot of money! They only charge you a set amount ($13.99/month – two movies at a time- unlimited amount of movies shipped per month) depending on your plan, you can rent new releases or your old favorites and it all costs the same, they never charge for shipping and there are no late fees! Plus you save gas by never having to go anywhere but right to your pc!
If you live close enough to your local store and you are not needing a lot, walk there! You not only get excercise but you save gas as well!
Review your bills and choose what you actually need, cut the other ones out of your life! If you pay for a magazine subscription but don’t actually read the magazine-cancel it!
Instead of eating fast food all the time, eat some meals at home! It is a lot cheaper to do the work yourself! You can make meals for under $10 a day here.
Replace your light bulbs with energy saving light bulbs! Replace your old appliances to those that have the energy star! Turn off the lights/water when you are finished using them! Get an energy audit and find out if your home leaks, then fix it if it does! Change your filters on your heating or air condition unit so they don’t use so much energy. You will save a lot of money this way!
