I know that trusting God doesn't seem relevant to financial issues in the way of saving or making money but it is more relevant than you may think. God knows where you are in your life, and exactly what you need down to the detail.
The importance is to know the difference between what we need and what we think we need. There is a difference. God knows what we need, He takes care of the birds of the air why wouldn't He take care of us too?
"Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28
When we are at our wit's end, worrying about where our next meal is going to come from and how we are going to pay the mortgage this month God says "come to me."
"Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow for today has enough worries of it's own."-Matthew 6:34
We have a God who wants to take our worries away. He wants to give us every little thing we need, and He will if we acknowledge Him. You may say, well if He wants to give it to me why not just do it? Why do I have to acknowledge Him? It is because He gives us free will. When we choose to live under God's umbrella of protection He will take care of us, however we have the option to step out from under that umbrella and become the prey of the world.
At the very core of simplistic living is God. When you live your life according to God's word you need and want for nothing because you have everything that truly matters. We become humbled when we look around and thank God for the blessings He has generously bestowed on our lives. We start to look at the big picture and realize the small puzzle piece we are living in right now is just a moment. The brand new TV we want so badly becomes not so important because in the long run it doesn't have meaning.
The toys don't matter, when you are lying on your death bed you will not be thinking about the things you never had. Your last wish will not be for the biggest house, because you can't take it with you.
I suggest examining your wants and lining them up with the life God calls you to lead. Simplify your life, and yes saving and making money is important because we need money to live a comfortable life but do not let money take the place of God. Find out what His will is for your life and ask Him to lead you down His path.
