As I drove home today I thought about this fact, and the fact that when you want something to happen you have to make it happen. I know it's one of the oldest tricks in the book, but we are putting our foot down and starting out on our road to making this dream happen! I decided to start a saving jar.
I chose to use a clear popcorn container for two reasons: it is clear so we can see the money in the bottle, and it is small therefore it is not unrealistic to fill it up at least once a month. My plan is to deposit the change into a designated savings account set up for the specific purpose of saving for our home. This I have found allows me to put the set aside money out of our minds. It worked with our safety net, the money we've saved for my husband's gun obsession, and other things we've set goals for, now it's just a more pricey item.
Thank you for sharing and for this nice information. I really appreciate your work, keep it up.

This is such a fabulous idea. I used to do this years ago just because we always had change around, and then when we needed something for the kids it was there.
